  • Jack's Bio....

Jack Henderson honed his skills as a young singer songwriter fronting veteran bands whose experiences included Eric Clapton and Marianne Faithful. His songwriting eventually took him to America where, as well as producing projects for other singer-songwriters, he recorded his debut solo album, Cheap Tattoo.

Henderson describes This Daring Light as an album that allowed a wider exploration of who I am as a songwriter. I've always found the concept of Americana too restrictive and Tony, with his pop sensibilities, was the perfect guy to help bring some of the wider histories that inform the songs out into the light. I think we produced something that transcends place and time.

During his years in the States Henderson toured and recorded extensively with Americana band Over The Rhine, cult Canadian outfit Cowboy Junkies and shared stages with the likes of Buddy Miller, Sarah Mclachlan, Ron Sexsmith and Natalie Merchant. He now lives in Scotland and has recently been found in the company of fellow songwriters, Tom Robinson, Ed Harcourt and Joan as Policewoman, with whom he recently recorded a single.

Henderson's latest studio album, This Daring Light, was recorded in New York with Patti Smith's producer and bass player, Tony Shanahan. The album includes contributions from Marc Ribot, (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello), Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan, Paul Simon), Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams, Sheryl Crow).
